What Is CLA And Why Is It In Slender?
CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) is the primary ingredient in Slender, and is a family of good fats (i.e. polyunsaturated fatty acids, known to promote health). Derived from natural safflower oil, CLA was first identified in the late 1970s by Dr. Michael Pariza during his research on cancer prevention.
Since then, decades of research suggest that – along with numerous other health benefits – CLA may inhibit the body from depositing fat, help prevent fat cells from refilling, and foster muscle development.
Even better, Puristat's Slender is made from one hundred percent Tonalin ™ CLA - the brand most used in numerous clinical studies on weight loss. It is manufactured using a proprietary process that converts safflower – the richest source of linoleic acid – into conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).
Touted as the most researched, highest quality CLA supplement, Tonalin™ is said to be most effective for both health and dietary benefits. It contains no natural or artificial stimulants or ephedrine, which part of the reason it has become so popular.
Where Do The Ingredients in Slender Come From?
While CLA is found in some of the foods we consume – dairy and beef products are two natural sources – eating habits have changed considerably over the years. A trend toward low-fat dairy and less beef has rendered most of us with CLA-deficient diets.
In addition, the diets of the animals we consume have changed. Meat and dairy products from animals fed with grain, hay, and silage contain far less CLA than those that are grass-fed. Today, kangaroo meat – along with products from other grass-fed ruminants (bison, cattle, deer, elk, goats, moose, and sheep) – is the best source of CLA. Eggs and the common mushroom are also sources.
Because it is difficult to get adequate amounts of CLA through diet alone, many people consider CLA supplementation to be an essential part of their overall health regimen.
Slender is all natural and contains no sugar, salt, dairy, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, preservatives, artificial colors or flavors.
Is Slender An Effective Weight Loss Remedy?
There is a great deal of research to support the claim that Tonalin™ CLA, in conjunction with moderate exercise, is effective at reducing weight and minimizing weight gain.
In 2007, the International Journal of Obesity reported that CLA could have long-term health benefits1 by preventing the common weight and fat gain connected to aging and overeating.
The study's findings were dramatic. And, since the National Institutes of Health reports that nearly two thirds of Americans are obese or overweight (that's 129 million people!),2 the implications – according to principal author of the study Professor Dale Schoeller, PhD, University of Wisconsin-Madison – may be critical to helping reduce the cumulative weight and fat gains typical with age.
Further, a Journal of Nutrition study published in 2005 corroborates and expands upon previous research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition , which found that CLA reduced body fat mass in overweight, but otherwise healthy, adults by as much as nine percent.3 A follow-up study found that the participants hadn't regained the lost body fat.
Hundreds of studies have shown the ingredients in Slender to be safe and effective, with no adverse side effects reported. In a minor number of cases, mild diarrhea, nausea, and/or stomach upset were noted.
How Does Slender Work To Foster Weight Loss?
Tonalin™ CLA, the primary ingredient in Slender, is believed to work in several ways to reduce weight. It is thought to decrease the size and number of fat cells (adipocytes) in your body.
CLA suppresses an enzyme in the digestive system known as lipoprotein lipase (LPL), which is responsible for breaking down fat for storage. The result is that less fat is broken down, so there is less available to store.
Fat cells naturally disintegrate in your body. Though researchers are not certain of how CLA boosts fat burning, they believe it may work to speed the rate at which fat cells break down (apoptosis), in turn decreasing the number of fat cells available for storage.
Some research also suggests that CLA may increase the rate at which fatty acids are turned into energy, resulting in fat being burned more quickly (metabolized).
CLA naturally helps reduce the percentage of body fat you carry and gain, and maintain lean muscle mass as you age by burning calories more efficiently and at a higher rate. In turn, the increase of lean muscle naturally slims your body.
Most studies note that CLA works best in conjunction with a moderate exercise program.
Remember, with Slender, you're actually reducing body fat not just getting rid of the excess water associated with some weight gain.
Slender with Tonalin™ CLA May Support Colon Health
The ingredients in Slender are touted as safe and effective for weight loss. But did you know that studies have also shown it has numerous other health benefits?
The exact mechanism of CLA's effectivness is not completely understood however many of the health benefits associated with CLA are believed to result from the fact that it supports a healthy immune system.
Tonalin™ CLA has been called a significant “health promoter”4 by Delbert R. Dorscheid, MD, PhD, a cancer and asthma researcher at the University of Chicago, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, who has reviewed more than two hundred published research and clinical studies worldwide on the health benefits of this miraculous ingredient found in Puristat's Slender.
Dorscheid claims disease begins when a cell functions improperly. Scientists say the key to controlling cancer lies in interrupting the cell cycle and promoting cell death. It is therefore possible that CLA's benefit to the disease process may be the way it works to alter cellular signaling pathways.5 Numerous studies support the beneficial effects of CLA on various types of cancer, including colon cancer.
What Other Benefits Does Slender with Tonalin™ CLA Provide?
The original research on the ingredients found in Slender focused primarily on the fatty acid's anti-carcinogenic properties, particularly in relation to reducing the incidence of breast cancer.
Since the late 1980s, there have been numerous studies to support the beneficial effects of CLA on various types of cancer, including colon cancer, as well as on limiting the severity of atherosclerosis (which can lead to heart disease), controlling blood sugar levels (diabetes), and hypertension. CLA has also been shown to assist in allergy and asthma control.
Some researchers say that the overall reduction in CLA intake in the last few decades has contributed to the increase in obesity in the United States , as well as to the rise in breast and prostate cancer and asthma severity. Additionally, people with excess body fat are at risk for serious illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, osteoarthritis, respiratory problems, and various types of cancers.6
Is Slender Right For You?
There is much to be said about the effectiveness of the ingredients found in Slender both as a weight loss product and as a preventative supplement for a host of other health problems. Decades of research support their efficacy and safety.
However, there is no magic potion out there. Optimal results are always best achieved when taken along with a healthy diet and moderate exercise regimen.
Puristat's Slender with Tonalin™ CLA is the right choice for people who are willing to make moderate lifestyle changes in order to work towards the healthiest, trimmest selves they can possibly be.
