Fibrosis means the formation of fibroids or fibrous tissue, usually in reference to the development of tissue at a wound site resulting in the formation of a scar.

Liver fibrosis, also known as cirrhosis, is characterized by the formation of fibrous tissue, regenerative nodules, and liver scarring, all of which interfere with blood circulation, leading to progressive loss of liver function.
