Q: How does colon cleansing work?

A: Puristat's Colon Cleanse is made up of two components – Cleanse and Restore. The combination of herbal ingredients in Cleanse works to stimulate increased muscle activity in the colon. This activity is called peristalsis – the natural wave-like motion that propels waste in the large intestine to the rectum before final elimination. The increased muscle activity will not only break up and remove impacted waste; it will also tone your colon.

For centuries, people around the globe have used a variety of herbal ingredients to assist their bodies in eliminating toxins, mucous, and parasites from the colon. Using products with just the right combination of herbs is the secret to a successful cleansing program.

The second component to Puristat's Colon Cleanse is Restore is comprised of good bacteria, also known as lactobacillus acidophilus. A cleansing not only clears out the bad bacteria, but it can also strip your digestive system of the good bacteria. It is vital to restore the good bacteria within your system. The proper balance of acidophilus helps keep your immune system strong, reduces yeast overgrowth, and increases regularity.

Q: Is cleansing considered detoxification?

A: A colon cleanse is the most effective form of detoxification for your entire body. When you cleanse your colon and develop healthy lifestyle habits, you are reducing the workload on all your other major organs. These organs clean the blood that comes from your bowel – the dirtier the blood, the greater the workload. In time, with regular cleansings, your liver, kidney, lungs, lymphatic system, and skin will all become healthier and stronger.

Q: Does colon cleansing benefit the liver?

A: Colon cleansing does help the liver by reducing its workload. To further benefit the liver, we have developed a duo colon and liver cleansing program. First cleanse your colon for a period of seven to twenty-one days, then follow the cleanse with a 7-day liver cleanse. Finish the program by following up with a final 7-day colon cleanse. Q: Will cleansing disrupt my schedule?

A: It's a common question, and a concern of vital legitimacy. Bowel habits are not something we want to be thinking about during working hours, commuting, or while vacationing. Our colon cleansing programs will help you achieve more productive bowel movements, more often – and they are completely within your control. In other words, it's not necessary to camp yourself outside the nearest lavatory for fear of having an accident! The Puristat cleansing system was designed for effectiveness and gentleness in use.

Q: How many bowel movements a day are desirable?

A: First, we should define the ideal bowel movement. It ought to be soft, light brown in color, not have a foul order, and should float or sink slowly. It should also break up when the toilet is flushed. Dr. Mehmet Oz, co-author of YOU: The Owner's Manual: An Insider's Guide to the Body that Will Make You Healthier and Younger, says a bowel movement ought to glide into the water like an Acapulco high diver – with very little splash. A plop-plop-plop indicates hard stools.

Ideal movements should happen two to three times a day – or better yet, every time you eat – in order to continually eliminate toxins from your colon vs. reabsorbing them into the blood stream. When you experience regularity, you'll be amazed at how quickly your energy levels rise, and your entire outlook may even undergo a transformation.

Q: What are healthy bacteria?

A: Every digestive system has bacteria. The proper balance of acidophilus (naturally occurring flora) helps keep our immune systems strong, reduces yeast overgrowth, and increases regularity. Rather than simply cleaning you out, the best cleansing programs will include a probiotic supplement containing lactobacillus acidophilus in order to help gut flora reestablish itself during a cleanse.

Restore, the second component to Puristat's Colon Cleanse, is comprised of healthy bacteria, also known as lactobacillus acidophilus. A cleansing not only clears out the bad bacteria; it can also strip your digestive system of the healthy bacteria. It is vital to restore the good bacteria within your system.

Q: How soon will I begin to experience results?

A: Many customers begin to experience results within the first few days. However, it has taken your body a long time to accumulate toxins and the resultant symptoms, so relief cannot be expected overnight.

The Puristat system offers 7-, 14-, and 21-day programs. Everyone's body is different; you may see benefits right away but, no matter which program you choose, it's best to continue cleansing monthly with a 7-day program beyond your first cleanse to ensure ideal bowel movements two to three times a day.

Q: What, if any, negative side effects might I experience during the program?

A: Very rarely does a user experience discomfort. However, in the event of a bit of cramping, decrease your intake of the product, or skip a day or two all together. Begin again with half the dosage, and gradually increase to the maximum amount until the product runs out. Be sure to drink plenty of water – half of your body weight in ounces is recommended.

Some individuals may experience mild flu-like symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, headaches, etc., during the first phase of the cleansing process. This generally lasts between two to five days, and is the body's way of showing you it's being cleansed; your body is ridding itself of toxins through the nose, mouth, and eyes.

Positive effects will take over by day five, and leave you feeling lighter, healthier, and more energetic. You may also notice enhanced digestion, better elimination, healthier hair, skin, and nails, brighter eyes, increased mental clarity, heightened enthusiasm, vitality, and much more.

Q: Do I have to change my diet?

A: In order to get the most out of your cleansing experience, we recommend a gradual increase in fiber, and a low fat diet that includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and proteins such as fish, chicken, or turkey. When snacking, try to eat more fruits and vegetables instead of sweets, and drink plenty of water – half of your body weight in ounces is recommended.

You don't have to change your lifestyle drastically to maximize the benefits from internal cleansing, but being more health-conscious with food and exercise will produce better results. No one is perfect, so do the best you can with the recommended dietary changes. While lifestyle can dictate how quickly you'll see results, it is important to have reasonable goals. Q: How do I know which program is right for me?

Q: Can I lose weight with regular colon cleansings?

A: As a percentage of total feedback we receive from clients who've completed our cleansing programs, weight loss testimonials represent the largest number. So yes, cleansing often results in weight reduction.

It makes sense that the removal of built-up waste in the colon can help facilitate a drop in weight. In addition, many people report that having more energy and a focus on health often leads to an increase in the motivation and drive necessary to realize weight-loss goals...and to stick with exercise programs. Q: Is cleansing effective for relieving constipation?

A: Constipation is one of the conditions we receive the most feedback on. Bouts of constipation are one of the most common reasons for completing a cleansing program. Chemical laxatives are a short-term fix, and can create a dependency.

When you cleanse with herbs, you are helping to tone your colon as well as shorten your bowel transit time. The end result is less constipation and larger, more productive bowel movements. If you combine cleansing to remove existing impacted waste with increasing daily fiber, and make modifications to your diet, constipation ought to become but a distant memory.

Q: Is cleansing effective for parasite removal?

A: Yes, cleansing can be very effective for parasite removal. Parasites make their homes within impacted waste, and in the linings of colon walls. There isn't one laboratory style of testing covering all commonly known parasites, so cleansing is a fast, efficient way to clear an infestation. Cleansing has a proven track record; societies around the globe have cleansed for thousands of years to purge parasites.

Herbs help to increase the wave-like motion in the colon that propels waste along. Review the specific herbs in the program you chose to confirm whether or not parasite removal is actually part of a particular cleansing system. A cleanse can also alleviate the unpleasant symptoms of an infestation.

It is also important to increase fiber intake to keep your bowels regulated. This in turn keeps your colon clear of the waste build-up associated parasite infestation. And follow up with a multi-vitamin. A parasite infestation can deplete your resources, and if you're already vitamin-deficient, you will be vulnerable to parasitic re-infestation.

Q: Can cleansing help with diverticulosis/diverticulitis symptoms?

A: Consider that diverticulosis/diverticulitis is a Western disease of the colon, the development of which is believed to be partially attributable to a lack of dietary fiber in our diets. This deficiency often leads to constipation; the resulting build-up of hardened stools pressing outward on the colon walls can cause diverticula to develop.

Diverticula are tiny pockets of weakness in the wall of the large intestine. This weakening, called diverticulosis, is found in one third of the over-fifty population in the U.S. Diverticulitis is the infection and inflammation of the diverticula. A person with diverticulosis may develop diverticulitis when debris gets caught in the pockets, and they become infected or inflamed.

By keeping your colon clean and healthy, you can help reduce the potential for the development of diverticulosis, and decrease the chance of flare-ups if you already suffer from diverticulitis. [Article with Images]

Q: Is cleansing effective for relieving symptoms of IBS?

A: IBS is a brain-gut communication problem; IBS symptoms are believed to result from a disturbance in the interaction between the gut, brain, and autonomic nervous system. This, in turn, alters bowel function and reflex, eliciting an often inappropriate and ill-timed response to ordinary activities such as eating or the passage of fluid and gas within the gastrointestinal tract (GI).

Most people find that it takes a variety of lifestyle choices to control their IBS. While there is no cure, it is possible to manage the condition and alleviate some of the uncomfortable symptoms such as bloating and flatulence. Puristat has had a tremendous amount of success helping people relieve their IBS discomfort through internal cleansing-detoxification.

A word of caution: If you have irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea-predominant (IBS-D), or are experiencing bleeding, a cleanse should not be your first step, but it ought to be a consideration. Probiotics can be the first step for those with IBS-D.

Q: Can cleansing help with hemorrhoids?

A: Hemorrhoids are most often caused by the straining necessary to eliminate hard stools. A result of a lack of dietary fiber, or the side effect of medication, hard stools wreak havoc on your colon.

While most hemorrhoids will shrink and/or disappear when the straining stops, some are tougher to get rid of than others; some hemorrhoids are hereditary, for example. However, with increased fiber intake and a cleanse of the impacted waste currently trapped in your colon, many people manage to avoid developing hemorrhoids.

Q: Do cleansings help fight fatigue?

A: Absolutely...when you reduce the workload of your cleansing organs, your energy levels rise. Cleansing will help eliminate the toxins being absorbed into your body, which helps your overall energy. In addition, we have developed our very own Siberian ginseng formulation to go along with your program as an optional purchase. Boost will help you feel energetic even during the cleansing process. Many satisfied customers continue taking Boost long after their internal cleanse has been completed.

Q: I've just started dieting and taking Puristat, and I'm feeling bloated. Why is this?

A: A bloated stomach is often caused by a sudden increase in fiber brought on by increasing vegetable, fruit, legume, and fiber supplement intake. If you're feeling bloated, ease up on these foods and supplements, then reintroduce them gradually into your diet. Alternatively, persevere and the bloated feeling ought to pass within a matter of days.

Q: I've gone through the first seven days of the program, and I'm still not achieving two to three bowel movements per day. Is there anything I can do?

A: Many people fear they have failed if they have not achieved two to three ideal daily bowel movements within a few days of beginning the system. Unfortunately, some people have very stubborn or sluggish colons, and since it has taken a long time for this problem to develop, it cannot be resolved overnight. We recommend continuing with a 7-day cleansing program on a monthly basis until you produce two or three bowel movements each day.

Q: Is it advisable to use Puristat for the rest of my life?

Just as a car needs the oil changed every three thousand miles, the human body needs colon cleansing on a regular basis. We used to be able to achieve this with healthy foods and fiber alone, but with today's highly processed foods and low fiber diets it's essential to add a cleansing program to your health routine. A 7-day program on a monthly basis is recommended for colon maintenance.
